About the presenter
I completed a Bachelor of Science and a Diploma of Languages at the University of Melbourne in 2014. In 2015, I started a Master of Science (Zoology) at the University of Melbourne under the supervision of Dr Stephen Swearer and Dr Tim Dempster. During my MSc, I have investigated gonad conditioning of the overabundant native urchin, Heliocidaris erythrogramma, as a means of encouraging urchin harvest from urchin barrens. My research identifies a potential economic solution to the environmental problem of urchin barrens and may lead to the creation of a sea urchin aquaculture industry that provides economic and environmental benefits. More broadly, I am interested in applied environmental research that advances industry, policy and/or ecological management.
